Dear Friend:
Welcome to Sensational Cocktail Recipes.
Hello, my name is Jill Hathaway. I love entertaining. I especially love the art of presenting beautiful food and fabulous cocktails in creative, simple and inviting ways. The fun for me is in the way it’s presented. And with cocktails, the possibilities are endless!
I finally decided to share my passions in the form of this blog.
A few cocktails will always complete any social gathering. They can either be the talk of the crowd after the party or they can start any conversations during the party.
Some people think that it is quite expensive to have a few cocktails for a party but here’s the good news. You don’t need to become a professional bartender to be able to come up with mind blowing cocktail recipes, you just need to stick around and learn the basics.
First things first, you need to have some knowledge about glassware. It’s all about the right drink in the right glass. This will be able to show to people that you know what you are doing and they will excitingly accept whatever you have to offer. The common cocktail glasses are the following:
- Champagne Glasses
- Martini Glasses
- Liqueur Glasses
- Tall Cocktail Glasses
- Rock Glasses/Shot Glasses
If you have all the following glasses above, then you’ll be able to offer your guests a full bar. It’s better to be ready because you will never know what kind of cocktail your guest will ask for.
You might also need some equipment to be able to create a few of the most popular drinks. But if you weren’t able to get some, then a blender will always do. You will need good equipment to crush ice, since it is a staple in many cocktail recipes.
You might also need a cocktail shaker. These are made from stainless steel and have caps and mini strainers. This is important because some cocktail recipe ingredients need to be shaken and/or strained before they’re poured.
If you are planning to throw a cocktail party, you should first familiarize yourself with the most popular spirits. Here are some of them:
- Vodka
Considered as the most popular because it goes well with almost every ingredient imaginable. It’s got an almost non-existent taste. - Rum
It is not as versatile as vodka, but it also goes well with many ingredients. - Bourbon
This is considered as the crowds favourite and it is used in almost all drinks that require sour or bitter ingredients like lemons or mint leaves. - Mexican Tequila/Tequila
This is very popular for turning a simple party into a wild one. It is very easy to serve. You will just need a shot glass, salt and a lemon wedge and it’s ready. - Gin
If you are up for some unique flavour, stock up some gin and you’re good to go.
And the last thing that you’ll need to complete a party experience is how to apply garnishes to your drinks to make them even more exciting and appetizing.
Some of the great stuff you can use are paper umbrellas for tropical cocktails, a bar stocked with essentials to make sweetened and salted rims, and thick fruit syrups or cream liqueur on a clean plate to dip the rim of the glass in. A few fruits such as lemon and lime are a great add ons to some of the drinks.
