The Bellini is a long cocktail drink that has its origins in Venice. This drink is a blend of sparkling wine traditionally the Prosecco and peace puree that is popularly served at celebrations.

The Bellini is one of the most popular cocktails in Italy. It is the official cocktail of the International Bartenders Association or the IBA. Professional bartenders love making this cocktail at bars all across the world.

The Bellini is considered to be the peachy version of the Champagne Cocktail and this is the reason why it is the ideal cocktail for brunch.

It was invented sometime in the years between 1934 and the 1948 by Giuseppe Cipriani who was the founder of Harry’s Bar located in Venice, Italy. Famous personalities like Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway used to come to this bar that was inaugurated 1931. In the year 1948 Giuseppi Cipriani who had invented the Bellini that was inspired by the famous Venetian painter of the 15th century Giovanni Bellini.

In the present times this drink is found in most popular Italian restaurants all over the world. There is also a mock version of the drink that is known as Baby Bellini and this is also popular and sought after like the Bellini.

Bellini Cocktail Recipe Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of peach juice or peach puree
  • Champagne/chilled Italian sparkling wine
  • One teaspoon of raspberry puree

Recipe Directions:

You need to combine the two ingredients (wine/champagne with puree) in champagne flutes to serve.

You can make the original version by mixing 2/3 cup white peace puree with one teaspoon of raspberry puree and sparkling wine like Proscecco or Asti Spumante Brut. You can use yellow peaches if the white ones are not available

Place 1 ½ tablespoons of the puree at the bottom of each flute and add two to three drops of the raspberry puree. You can add more sparkling wine and serve.

This drink recipe is the similar one that was made at The Harry’s Bar in Venice. The original recipe was made with white peaches with raspberry or cherry juice so that the drink gets a fresh pink glow. This drink is considered to be an ideal drink for a birthday party for its sweet pink glow and appeal.

This recipe that was originally made with wine later escalated to champagne in the recent times. In some places in Italy it is still made with wine but elsewhere it is made with champagne.
